Our
Story
History
Ran-Bro Tool Company’s story begins in the 1960s, when the Ranf brothers sold their California business and made their way to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. In 1965, they opened a small tool shop in Beaverton, Oregon, naming it Ran-Bro Tool Co.—a simple but meaningful blend of their family name and the brother run spirit behind the company.
Fast forward to the late 1980s, a young machinist, by the name of Lonnie, stopped by the shop to visit a friend after quitting his job, with his toolbox sitting in the back of his truck. By the end of that same day, his toolbox had been unloaded and placed inside the shop. Without even planning it, Lonnie had stepped into the next chapter of his career. His skill, work ethic, and dedication quickly became part of Ran Bro’s identity.
In the late 1990s, the Ranf brothers decided it was time to sell the business. After the company changed hands, Lonnie was offered the role of General Manager along with an opportunity to work toward future ownership. It wasn’t an easy road with a relocation to North Plains, Oregon, challenges, long hours, and his share of setbacks and obstacles, Lonnie continued to stay the course. In 2022, after decades of commitment, he officially became the sole owner of Ran-Bro Tool.
Present Day
Today, Ran-Bro Tool Company remains a proud family-owned business, now owned by Lonnie’s two daughters, Lorna and Vivian, and his son Allan. His daughters currently manage the company and are determined to continue building Ran-Bro into a strong, values driven company. Their brother supports them while also pursuing his own dreams, much like their father once did. The family’s shared values of honor, integrity, and strong communication continue to guide every decision they make.
As we move into this next chapter, we’re focused on growing, improving, and building for the future, while still staying true to the history that shaped us. We haven’t forgotten where we came from or the people who helped us get here. We truly appreciate every employee, past, present, and future, who has played a vital role in our journey. Your contributions are the heart of our legacy.
Our name will remain as Ran-Bro Tool Co. It’s a nod to the two brothers who started it all, the man who built his career within these walls, and a fateful twist that two sisters now carry the business forward with the same dedication and pride as those before them.
